Tony DiStefano on a "Factory Suzuki".

During the 70's I drifted away from the sport of drag racing and turned my attention to the sport of motocross. Back in the early '70's, a young person that was in good shape could actual ride with the hope that someday they might make it to the professional level of this off road sport that was affordable for the "average Joe". And just like drag racing in the '60's, motocross in the '70's put one in the position of actually purchasing a bike that wasn't far from what the factory rides had. Take for instance, the German built Maico. Many of the Maico factory riders were on the same bike that you could buy from the local bike shop, with some modifications to the suspension. And with a properly prepared bike, it was then a matter of whether you had the ability to ride at the professional level.
I went through many a motocross bike in the '70's and '80's and came to the conclusion REAL EARLY that I just didn't have what it took. BUT that didn't stop me from admiring the magnificent riders of that time period. World class riders that made their way to places like Carlsbad Raceway and Saddleback Park. And since I loved to shot movies of my favorite sport at the time. Motocross became my next movie making phase. Now, of course, I wish I would have used 16mm movie film when I shot some of America's finest motocross stars, but alas, 8 mm is what I used. And like my days at the drag strip in the '60's, while almost everyone else was watching the races, I watched most of the races with one eye stuck in my movie camera lens.
I will be editing my old movies for sale in the not too distant future, but for now I'll show you some of the close up shots that are from my movies, on the next page of this website. So until I get them all edited....enjoy.
